Do I need a defect tracking tool while I am using Test Collab?
It is optional to use defect (bug) tracking system because in Test Collab when a tester marks a test case as failed he can also mark individual step as passed / failed , upload screenshots and add his comment for reason of failure.
But if you are looking for fully featured defects management, then you will need an external defect tracker.
Integration with defect tracking tools
Test Collab allows easy integration with popular bug trackers as issue managers :
- Pivotal Tracker
Once an issue manager is integrated, whenever a test fails during its execution it can automatically be reported as bug (issue) into the issue manager by Test Collab.
When the same test case passes during a future execution then the status for earlier reported bug can automatically be set as verified. Link to the defects reported in issue manager are maintained with the test execution details for easy reference and accessibility.
Moreover, the issues from issue manager can also be linked as requirements with the test cases in Test Collab.
More details on the integration with these tools are available under the topics listed on this online user guide article - http://support.testcollab.com/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=8
